Return to Sleepy Hollow

October 12, 2017 Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, Walt Disney World, FL

I had so many questions about the Return to Sleepy Hollow event at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. I posted a few stories on my IG, but I wanted to share a little bit more about it with you guys...since it was so much fun!

I've always loved the animated Disney film The Adventures of Ichabod Crane, but I'm a huge fan of the live action, Tim Burton directed Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. As soon as I discovered there was going to be an actual Headless Horseman meet and greet, I immediately got tickets and planned an October Disney trip!

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this, but I made sure I would be able to get a photo opportunity with THE Headless Horseman himself. Before the meet and greet, there is a viewing of the animated movie with complimentary popcorn. I purchased a standard ticket for $22, but you could pay a little bit more for preferred seating.

For those who haven't visited or stayed at Fort Wilderness, the event was at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch near the Pioneer Hall (where the Hoop-Dee-Doo is). After going through the main Fort Wilderness gate, you have to take a bus to the Settlement Trading Post, which takes you right to Pioneer Hall.

We walked to the left of Pioneer Hall by all of the adorable ponies, to the larger stable where they keep all of the larger horses, like the Clydesdales. Below is a pic of where we were seated, and you can see a cute horsey face peeking out. So cute. I will be honest though, it was a tiny bit stinky (obviously), but I felt like being in the stable next to actual horses just added to the spooky atmosphere of the Headless Horseman movie.

With your ticket, you also get a free LE pin, which I LOVE.

After the movie ended, the screen lifted to reveal the Headless Horseman. I can't even describe how scary, yet amazing this moment was!

At first, I wasn't convinced he was real. Then a little boy walked up to the fence and waved at him, and the Horseman waved his pumpkin at him. I may have swooned a little!

I will say that this was the coolest events I've ever done at Disney, and I really hope that they continue this in the future. If you love meeting characters and would like a relaxing night away from the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom, this event is perfect!
