Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney | In LOVE with Splitsville

November 14, 2013

I'm finally back from my Disney trip, having some serious Disney withdrawals, but very excited to share some pretty neat things from my trip! There were so many new things to see this time, and I pretty much did everything on my list (which NEVER happens, not even close!).

One place I have really been wanting to try for a while is Splitsville in Downtown Disney. It is located on the West Side of Downtown Disney, where the Virgin Megastore used to sit. I didn't do the bowling thing, since I had stomped around the Magic Kingdom all day in the unusual 80 degree November weather. I did indulge in some amazing food though, and I can guarantee you that I will be dining here a lot more often!

This entire building, inside and out, is super retro fabulous. So, obviously I loved it just for that reason! You can dine outside or inside, near one of the many bowling lanes, or at the bar. There's two levels to this place, and lucky for me, both are well equipped with a sushi bar on each floor. Awesome!

I visited Disney at one of its peak times of the season, (Veteran's Day weekend) so it was crowded everywhere. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait more than maybe 10 minutes to get a table!

Splitsville definitely wins the award for the prettiest and grooviest light fixtures and chandeliers! This one above resembles a large bowling pin, but just wait... it gets better...

As you walk in, you are immersed in funky-retro bowling heaven, BUT without the funky feet smell. I swear, I don't know how they did it?

This is the shoe rental station, and I love the vintage lockers behind the desk!

This bowling area was on the ground floor, and I'm loving the retro 70s Vacation Kingdom artwork on the wall. It totally fits!

Here's the outside dining area and outside bar.

And... TADAAAA!!!!!!! Stunning Sputnik chandeliers! I'm in love with these, and I have a small one hanging in my living room, but these are enormous. There are numerous Sputniks hanging all over Splitsville, as well as some George Nelson Saucer and Bubble lamps. I'm literally wanting to give the interior designer/imagineer of this place a big high five!

So, yeah the decor was retro and ridiculous, but the food was amazing too! Our group tried a little bit of everything... We ordered the pepperoni pizza, the cheeseburger deluxe, I got the ninja crunch sushi roll, we all split the loaded fries, and I also had a lemon drop martini. All was delicious, and the lemon drop was more like a lemon bomb, yummy but very powerful! They had a bunch of interesting cocktails that I can't wait to try on my next visit.

I hope you didn't drool too much over that, sorry. Stay posted for more blog posts on my latest Disney trip!
